After James Bond’s exploit, action movies seem to live in the myth of the character played by Sean Connery. The public loves this type of film and so a new spy movie trend starts in Europe called Eurospy but also in Italy, with some malice, “Under-007”. Co-productions fluorish among Spain, Germany and Italy, thanks to international agreements. In these spy movies music plays a very important role and it follows that “crime jazz” trend in which Umiliani finds himself very comfortable. Probably for this reason the Florentine composer writes the scores for more than 20 movies in just twelve months.
Among these films there is the second part of “Agente 3S3” in which Orietta Berti sings “Trouble Galore” in English in the opening credits (lyrics by Carol Danell), a song recorded also in Italian with the title “Le Ore del Sole”.
In “Requiem per un Agente Segreto” starring Stewart Granger, Lydia McDonald’s voice interprets “Don’t Ever Let Me Go”. “Segretissimo”, “Password: Uccidete l’Agente Gordon” (“Password: Kill Agent Gordon”) , “Inferno a Caracas”, “Duello nel Mondo”(“Ring Around the World”), “Tecnica di una Spia”; “Ray Master l’Inafferrabile”, “Jerry Land: Cacciatore di Spie”, and finally “I Sette Monaci d’Oro” starring Aldo Fabrizi and Raimondo Vianello are only some of the titles with the “Italian license to kill”. Unfortunatly the soundtracks of these movies is never released on record and this pushes the Maestro to shortly establish his own label.
Only few 45 RPMs can be found of this year, among which “L’Alba Viene a cercare Te” interperted by Sergio Endrigo in “Un Colpo da Mille Miliardi” (“The Suez Intrigue”).
